Group trips for neurodivergent people,
made by neurodivergent people.
Our Story
…so you start joining group trips. You join wellness trips, women's trips, history trips, but still no luck. your communication struggles and niche interests isolate you from the group. It is hard to even have fun on group trips because you are too busy worrying about what to say, how to hide your struggles, and what you need to do to come off as “normal”.
Then at 20 years old you are diagnosed with autism and ADHD. Suddenly your whole world makes sense. All of the struggles you have had your entire life can now be pinpointed to your neurodivergence that you knew nothing about.
And that is when you realize that not only did you struggle with everyday life because of your autism but it was also the reason why you struggled to travel and make connections with people. You realize that the travel world is inaccessible for neurodivergent people and you imagine what it would be like if neurodivergent people from all over the world could meet up and travel together so you didn't feel so lonely.
Imagine this; you are an undiagnosed autistic adult backpacking the world. No matter what country you are in or what environment you are in, you are struggling to connect with people. It is a struggle that goes beyond language or cultural barriers. It is a barrier because your brain thinks and expresses things differently from other people.
You had no success making friends in hostels despite joining every group expression, family style dinner, and late night social hangout. Despite loving the prices of hostels, you decide maybe they aren't for you, and maybe you will have better luck making connections with people on group trips…
Then in 2025 you make that dream become reality. You do something crazy and you take a chance on a vision you have; host a neurodivergent group trip. You work with a travel company to host a group trip and to your surprise it sells out in minutes!
You think to yourself “huh maybe there is a need for these neurodivergent trips?”
You host one, two, three, four group trips back to back and each one sells out faster than the next. but the best part is the feeling you have when you are on the group trips. you are meeting neurodivergent people from all over the world and despite language barriers and cultural differences, you are still able to make deep and meaningful connections. its the first time in your life you have ever been able to make friends and engage in group activities effortlessly.
It's a truly life changing experience. So much so that you are determined to make trips more accessible, more accommodating, and more interesting. you start to think bigger... maybe you could start your own travel company?
…and that is when Neurodivergent Nomads was born.

Not all travel is ethical. The world is collectively seeing issues such as housing crises, resource strains, environmental degradation, and cultural commodification because of overtourism. It is incredibly important to consider your impact before traveling. Neurodivergent Nomads is strongly against the exploitation of local communities, contributing to overtourism, engaging in tourist practices that disrespect local cultures, or partnering with large corporations that funnel tourist money out of local communities. We prioritize working with local guides, businesses, and communities to ensure that tourism dollars stay within local communities. We are committed to leaving a positive impact on the locations we host trips to.
